- For TextielLab in Tilburg, we developed a layered information system.
- At TextielLab, artists and designers collaborate with specialists to create contemporary textile works, often pushing the limits of techniques and machinery. As part of the TextielMuseum, the Lab is also open to the public.
-
The challenge was to guide visitors through the Lab—explaining the programme, machines, and techniques—while respecting the working environment.
-
We used the structure of the main hall as a framework, taking the existing pillars as reference points. Inspired by functional, factory-style signage, each machine is identified by a high-mounted sign on a pillar, visible to both artists and visitors. Below, a small text explains the machine’s specific function.
- At the entrance, an information panel with a floor plan and a short introductory video welcomes visitors.
- Central to the project is an audio tour in seven chapters, following the work and process of two artists to explain how the Lab operates.
